Tesla has marked a significant achievement by producing its 7 millionth electric vehicle at its Fremont factory, as announced in its Q4 2024 financial results. This milestone showcases the company’s remarkable growth trajectory, particularly considering it took 16 years to produce its first million vehicles in early 2020, but only four years to add six million more.
Gigafactory Shanghai has been instrumental in this acceleration, reaching its own milestone of 3 million vehicles produced in October 2024, while also celebrating its millionth export vehicle in September. The company’s production pace was particularly strong in 2023, advancing from 4 million vehicles in March to 5 million by September of that year.
However, Tesla’s growth has plateaued in 2024, with the company projecting delivery numbers similar to the previous year. Despite this recent slowdown, Tesla maintains its position as the only automaker to have manufactured this many all-electric vehicles, solidifying its role as a pioneer in the automotive industry’s electrification.
