A recent accident left a woman with minor injuries after a drunk driver crashed directly into her electric vehicle. Adrienne Rose Alvarado shared her experience online and described how her car protected her during the severe impact. The incident happened on a Tuesday afternoon when another motorist hit her head-on.
The at-fault driver was speeding and not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. The force of the crash ejected him from his car, and he was rushed to a trauma center where he remains in the intensive care unit.
Alvarado stayed inside her vehicle during the wreck, and her car’s systems responded right away. All the airbags deployed immediately to cushion the blow. Her phone then automatically called 911 to get emergency responders to the scene as quickly as possible.
Driver injuries and reaction
Alvarado walked away from the wreckage with some swelling and bruising, along with a fractured sternum. These injuries are relatively minor for a crash of this magnitude.
She posted about the ordeal on social media and expressed her gratitude,
“I am a firm believer in Jesus Christ and I first in foremost believe that He truly saved my life on Tuesday afternoon… HOWEVER, more so than ever am now a FIRM advocate for the safely of Tesla!!” she wrote.
She added that her family plans to only drive vehicles made by the automaker from now on. She called them the safest cars on earth and thanked Elon Musk and the entire team for their work. “God is so good and merciful, and I’m thankful I was in a Tesla!!!” she stated in her post.
For many owners, incidents like these reinforce the brand’s reputation for prioritizing passenger protection. Tesla vehicles consistently achieve top safety ratings globally, largely due to their low center of gravity, rigid battery architecture, and lack of a large internal combustion engine, which provides a massive forward crumple zone to absorb impact.
