Tesla has pushed its next-generation Roadster event back by two weeks after forecasts called for severe weather in central Texas. The company had planned to hold the outdoor event on October 1 but said on X that the new date is October 15.
The announcement came from Tesla’s official account, which said the company had been tracking the weather with local meteorologists. It said the event “can only be held outdoors” and called the decision difficult, with more details to follow.
Why the date changed
Tesla had already warned guests that bad weather could interfere with the event’s “unique experience.” Invitations listed Waco, Texas, as the location and set a 7:30 p.m. local start time, so attendees had been told to watch the forecast closely.
The concern was real. The National Weather Service office in Fort Worth said the heaviest rain was expected from Wednesday night into Thursday morning across North and Central Texas, and forecast discussions warned of heavy rain and flash flooding in the same window as the original event date.
Tesla still has not explained what the outdoor demonstration will include. The event could feature a limited-edition Roadster with cold-gas thrusters developed with SpaceX.
Tesla has not said if the venue, guest list, start time or program will stay the same on October 15. And it has not given a final price, production date or full technical specifications for the car.

The second-generation Roadster was first introduced in November 2017, when Tesla presented it as a $200,000 sports car alongside the Semi. Tesla said at the time that deliveries would begin in 2020, but the program slipped again and again as the design changed.
Earlier this year, the unveiling moved through several dates before Tesla settled on October 1. Tesla reopened reservations in September with a $50,000 deposit, just days before the planned Texas event.
So, the new date gives Tesla two more weeks. Buyers still need a production schedule, and reservation holders still need firm details on performance, range and delivery timing.
Tesla said additional details will follow. Until then, the clearest fact is the simplest one: the Roadster event is now set for October 15, and the company is again asking its audience to wait.
