Tesla increases Model Y pricing in key European markets

Tesla just adjusted its online configurator to apply higher prices for the Model Y in several European countries. And buyers in France, Spain, and the Netherlands now face a €1,000 markup on the popular electric SUV.

The overnight update pushed the starting cost of the base Rear-Wheel Drive version from €39,990 to €40,990. But market watchers note this kind of sudden pricing move is standard practice for the automaker as it balances local demand and supply constraints.

Trim levels and regional differences

The price hike goes beyond the Eurozone and impacts other major markets in the region. Customers in Norway are seeing an increase of 10,000 NOK to reach a new base price of 399,990 NOK. Meanwhile, Denmark experienced a jump of 5,000 DKK, putting the entry-level vehicle at 304,990 DKK. And the adjustment stretches past the cheapest cars, as higher-tier configurations like the Premium RWD and AWD models received similar price bumps in places like the Netherlands and France.

United Kingdom market remains untouched

Yet some European buyers are dodging the extra costs for now. The automaker left prices entirely unchanged for the United Kingdom, leaving all Model Y variants at their previous levels across the channel. So the UK pricing strategy might stay flat to keep sales volume high against growing competition from other electric vehicle brands. Shoppers planning to buy a Model Y in the affected continental markets will just have to pay the new rates starting today.
