During these tests, Tesla reportedly uses a modified gaming joystick for necessary vehicular interventions.
The testing regime extends beyond standard driving scenarios. Tesla is conducting rigorous assessments, including water ingress tests using a rainmaker facility located at the west end-of-line area.

These extensive tests demonstrate the company’s commitment to ensuring the Cybercab’s reliability and performance under various conditions.
Indicators suggest Tesla is preparing for imminent production. A substantial amount of production equipment has been observed in the Giga Texas staging lot, implying that a new production line may be established in the near future.
This development could potentially accelerate the Cybercab’s timeline.
During the Q3 2024 earnings call, CEO Elon Musk outlined their production targets. Initially, the company projected volume production of the Cybercab in 2026.
However, the current testing and equipment staging activities hint at the possibility of initiating production as early as 2025. Musk previously stated that Tesla aims to produce at least 2 million Cybercabs annually.
The Cybercab represents a critical component of Tesla’s long-term strategy. Musk has repeatedly emphasized that self-driving technology will be the company’s key differentiator in the transportation sector.
As a vehicle built fundamentally for autonomy, the Cybercab could potentially become Tesla’s most transformative product.
