Tesla drivers like the new FSD v12.6.3 update. Many say it works better than older versions. Some call it smooth and confident, similar to how v13 performs.
Tesla says Hardware 3 isn’t outdated yet. Executives called v12.6.3 a “baby v13” during a recent earnings call. Drivers with Hardware 3 cars agree the update improves performance.
Elon Musk confirmed Tesla will upgrade Hardware 3 cars to AI4 for free if owners bought FSD. He said this process will be hard but necessary.
Current Tesla cars use AI4 computers. However, Both Hardware 3 and AI4 models get FSD updates.
Drivers shared positive reviews online after testing v12.6.3. One Model 3 owner said,
“The smoothness reminds me of v13. They did a great job here.”
Musk admitted the upgrade plan will take effort.
“We’ll have to upgrade some cars from Hardware 3 to AI4. It’ll be tough, but we’ll do it,”
he said.

Here’s a condensed clip of my latest video reviewing FSD v12.6.3. Link below. It’s crazy how well it’s performing. Based on a recent poll where 395 people voted, 55% of HW3 owners are still on v12.5.4. 20% are on v12.6.2 while 23% are on v12.6.3. Hey @Tesla_AI @aelluswamy… pic.twitter.com/0wNuy2rlOj
