The rollout currently targets owners in the United States driving recent versions of the Cybertruck, Model 3, Model Y, and Model S. The release continues a plan to refine the system using new compiler structures and upgraded neural networks to improve the driving experience.
Upgrades to the neural network and vision
The company modified the reinforcement learning process for the software and this change helps the car handle a wider variety of driving situations on the road. The system uses an updated vision encoder to better process rare events and low-visibility conditions when drivers need it most. It can interpret 3D geometry better and it can read traffic signs more accurately too. The developers rewrote the AI compiler using MLIR to speed up the model’s reaction time by 20% so the car responds faster to sudden events.
