Specs and Size

Model Y L measures 4,976mm in length, 179mm more than the regular version. The wheelbase grows by 150mm, now 3,040mm. Height is up to 1,668mm, while the width stays the same at 1,920mm.

Exterior Changes

Model Y L gets its own 19-inch wheels, a black rear spoiler, and an optional gold paint. The roofline is higher and the quarter glass in the back is bigger, making the cabin brighter.

Inside: Room and Features

You get seating for six. There are two front seats, two captain’s chairs in the middle, and two in the new third row.

Model Y L Seats

Middle seats come with power armrests for easier access to the back. Adults up to 1.78m tall fit comfortably in the third row. Both second and third rows fold flat with power controls, giving you up to 2,539 liters of cargo space, much more than the standard Model Y.

Interior Comfort

Front seats now feature adjustable headrests, leg-rests, and better lumbar support. Middle-row seats have heat, ventilation, and powered armrests. Four pillar-mounted air vents let passengers adjust airflow, a new setup for Tesla.

Technology Upgrades

Touchscreen size grows to 16 inches with higher resolution.

Speaker count climbs to 18, up from 15 in the regular model, with extra top speakers for better sound. Wireless charging now uses 50W and 30W pads, quicker than the dual 15W setup before. Every seat row gets its own charging ports.

Performance and Range

Model Y L uses the same dual motor layout as the Long Range Model Y, making 340kW. It’s heavier by 167kg, so 0–100km/h takes 4.5 seconds (vs 4.3 seconds for the standard). Top speed stays at 201km/h.

Both have an 82kWh LG battery. Range for Model Y L is 751km CLTC (about 320 miles EPA), which edges past the regular Model Y by 1km.

Suspension is upgraded to continuous damping control for smoother rides.

Safety: More Airbags

Both Model Y L and standard Model Y come with advanced airbag systems. You get front airbags for driver and passenger, seat-mounted side airbags up front, and curtain airbags for both front and middle rows.

All models made in China, including Model Y L, come with an extra far-side airbag on the driver’s seat to protect against side crashes involving both front passengers. Passenger airbags can be disabled for child seats.

These upgrades mean both versions hit the same high standard for safety.

Pricing and Market

Model Y L costs 339,000 yuan, about 8% more than the standard Model Y Long Range AWD. Wheelbase is the longest in this SUV group.

  • Model Y L: 119.7 inches
  • Hyundai Ioniq 5: 118.1 inches
  • Ford Mustang Mach-E: 117.5 inches
  • Kia EV6: 114.2 inches

Deliveries begin September 2025. Right now, only China is getting Model Y L, but tests in Europe hint it could arrive elsewhere in the future.

Tesla aims to reach families needing space, comfort, and robust safety. Model Y L delivers on all three.
