Tesla’s software update v4.43.5 delivers a key feature to Android users, the Dashcam Viewer. This tool, already available to iPhone users, now lets Android owners view dashcam and Sentry Mode clips directly on their phones.
The update works globally on newer Tesla models like the Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck.
A Simple Way to Watch Clips
With this update, Android users can check footage from their car’s cameras without pulling files from a USB drive. The Tesla app shows videos from the front, rear, and side cameras.
You can play, pause, rewind, save, or share clips with a few taps. The footage stays stored on the car’s USB drive, not in the cloud, so your Tesla needs a cellular or Wi-Fi connection for this to work.
How It Functions
To use the Dashcam Viewer, your Tesla must run software version v4.43.5 or later. Update your Tesla app through the Google Play Store. Once installed, open the app to:
- Watch recordings from Dashcam and Sentry Mode.
- View clips from all camera angles.
- Save or delete videos as needed.
Premium connectivity is required for remote access.
Balancing Features for Android and iOS
Android users had been waiting for this feature, which iPhone users got earlier. The v4.43.5 update closes that gap, giving both platforms the same ability to manage camera footage.
Some posts on social media also mention a hands-free trunk and frunk feature for Android, but this isn’t confirmed in official Tesla notes yet.
What’s Ahead for Tesla Owners
Tesla keeps improving its cars with over-the-air updates. More features tied to the app and cameras could come soon, especially as Tesla works on tools like Actually Smart Summon for older models.
