Tesla pushes out update 2025.26.8. It’s a quiet rollout. Only about 0.33% of all Teslas have it as of August 24, 2025. That’s 72 cars in one country getting the newest version. Most owners still have 2025.26.7 or older.
This update fixes bugs found in 2025.26.7. The main features haven’t changed. Tesla is testing before sending this update to more cars.
Grok AI assistant

You can talk to Grok, the new AI assistant built by xAI. It works on newer Teslas with AMD Ryzen chips. You pick Grok’s voice and attitude. There’s everything from “Storyteller” to “Unhinged.” You open it through the app launcher or by holding down the voice button on the wheel. You need premium connectivity or wi-fi. Tesla says your chats are private.
Grok is still in beta. It doesn’t control the car yet. Old voice commands work the same. Right now, Grok is only active in the U.S..
Light sync

Lights inside the car move with your music. They match the energy, the colors, and the changing album art. There’s even a party mode called “Rave Cave” for parked cars. Light sync is on the latest model 3, model Y, 2026 model S/X, and Cybertruck.
Dashcam updates

The dashcam app lets you change playback speed. You can zoom in and pick full screen or original size to check out saved footage. Cybertruck drivers get a special grid view.
Charging station details
Charging stops now show icons for valet service or paid parking. When you arrive, the car gives you details like codes, parking rules, floor info, and if restrooms are available.
Onboarding guide

There’s a guide to help new owners adjust settings and use the touchscreen. It walks you through driver options, lights, wipers, and Autopilot. You find it in controls > service > onboarding guide.
What’s fixed in this update
Tesla didn’t give details about every fix. But here’s what owners noticed with 2025.26.7:
- some couldn’t use the mobile app to lock or unlock after updating.
- Grok sometimes gave wrong info or didn’t reply as expected.
- Tesla rolled out this bug fix in just three days, showing it was urgent.
Tesla usually sends updates to employees first. If things go well, owners get them over time. Most Teslas (almost 83%) have software based on 2025.26.
Hardware & region rules
Grok needs an AMD Ryzen processor. Older Intel chips don’t work yet. The update goes on HW3 and HW4 cars. You must have wi-fi or premium connectivity for Grok.
Canadians still can’t use Grok because laws and local rules aren’t sorted out yet.
Tesla updates often. Bug fixes are fast. Major new features stay the same until the next big release. Owners get improvements without going to a service center, just by installing over the air.
Expect more updates as Tesla works out issues and expands the best stuff across all models.
