Tesla is planning to build its first Megacharger station for the electric Semi outside of its factories. This was revealed in new permit filings found this week.
On Monday, a Tesla charging station tracker named MarcoRP found a permit filed with Los Angeles County.
The permit is for building 12 Semi Megacharging stations near Carson. The site is at 19300 South Hamilton Ave., close to the intersection of Hamilton and Knox St., near highways I-110 and I-405.
Fillings for the site:

The location will have a 1,600-square-foot building with a lounge, vending machines, restrooms, and a parking area for staff.
Right now, the lot is still being used by a corporate plaza, but it’s expected to be torn down soon to make space for the Megacharger.
The Megacharger is being called “public,” but it will only be used for Tesla’s Semis. This is the first site of its kind being built on public land.
Tesla has already built Megachargers at its factories and for early customers, like the one at the Frito-Lay facility in Modesto, California.
Tesla’s Senior Manager of the Semi program, Dan Priestley, confirmed the site will use the company’s V4 Supercharging cabinets.
Tesla plans to roll out the upgraded V4 charging cabinets this quarter. The new cabinets will support charging speeds of up to 500kW for Tesla’s electric vehicles and up to 1.2MW for the Class 8 electric Semi.
Tesla has delivered a few Semi trucks to early customers like PepsiCo, DHL, and Walmart.
The company is also building a production facility for the Class 8 truck at its Gigafactory Nevada.

Production of the Semi is expected to start later this year, with plans to increase production next year.
