Tesla is trying a new way to stop Supercharger vandalism. This has been a problem for years.
Superchargers often get damaged. Some people steal parts for cash. Others do it to protest against Tesla or its CEO, Elon Musk.
Tesla has tried different methods to protect its Superchargers. These stations are important for drivers who need to charge their cars for long trips.
Some areas need extra attention. Seattle is one of them. Tesla is now testing a new approach there.

A user on Reddit, u/1FrostySlime, shared that Tesla is wrapping Supercharger cables with a material that resists cutting.

There’s more to it. The cables also have dye or ink inside. If someone cuts the cable, the dye will spray everywhere. This could help identify the person responsible.

Superchargers are easy targets for vandals, thieves, or people who dislike electric vehicles. Damaged chargers make travel harder, especially if they’re out of service for a long time.
The cables contain valuable metals like copper. Thieves often target them for quick money. Last year, Superchargers in Houston, Oakland, and other cities were hit by thieves stealing copper.
