Tesla is giving buyers in China more time to take advantage of a five-year, zero-interest loan on the Model Y. This move follows growing pressure from local electric vehicle makers.

Who Can Get the Offer

The zero-interest plan is available for the Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range All-Wheel Drive. The Performance version is not part of it. Buyers need to pay at least RMB 79,900 up front. For the Model Y RWD, monthly payments start at RMB 2,833.

This deal first came out in April 2024. Tesla has extended it several times. The latest update keeps the offer open until January 31, 2025.

Extra Discount for Inventory Cars

Tesla has added another offer on top. People buying a Model Y RWD or Long Range AWD from current inventory can get a RMB 10,000 discount on the last payment. This only applies to showroom or in-stock cars. Custom orders, test-drive vehicles, and certified used cars don’t qualify.

Why Tesla Is Doing This

Sales from Tesla’s Shanghai factory dropped in January 2025. Data showed an 11.5% fall from the same month last year. Compared to December, the drop was 32.6%. Other carmakers are picking up speed. BYD had a 47.5% rise in year-over-year sales that same month. Xiaomi’s SU7 sedan even outsold Tesla’s Model 3 in December.

Tesla has had to respond to this shift. Lowering interest helps without cutting sticker prices. The company still wants to keep its brand value high.

Tesla is working on rolling out its Full Self-Driving software in China sometime this year. That could help bring back attention to the brand.

For now, the interest-free loan and end-payment discount may help boost Model Y sales. Anyone interested can check Tesla’s website or visit a nearby store. The offers are open for a limited time.
