Tesla has a new, lower-priced Model Y for U.S. buyers. It’s part of the updated “Juniper” lineup. This Long Range All-Wheel-Drive version starts at $48,990 before incentives. It’s the first non-Launch Series Juniper model offered here. The premium Launch Series hit the market earlier in 2025, with deliveries starting in March.
Performance and range details
This new Model Y gets 308 miles of range with the standard 19-inch Gemini Wheels, per EPA estimates. Switch to the optional 20-inch Induction Wheels, and it drops to 286 miles. Top speed is 135 mph. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds. Tesla says it balances speed and efficiency well.
Buyers who purchase it outright can claim a $7,500 federal tax credit, bringing the price down to $41,490 if eligible. Leasing doesn’t qualify for that credit.
Ordering options and delivery
You can order it now on Tesla’s website. Exterior colors include Stealth Grey at no extra cost, Pearl White Multi-Coat or Deep Blue Metallic for $1,000 each, Ultra Red for $1,500, and Quicksilver for $2,000.
Inside, choose Black vegan leatherette for free or White for $1,000 more. A tow hitch costs $1,000 and lets it pull 3,500 lbs. Delivery depends on your setup, most options arrive between April and June 2025. Some, like Quicksilver with 20-inch wheels, could come as early as April-May.
How it compares to Launch Series
The Launch Series started at $61,630. It came with extras like Full Self-Driving (Supervised), special badges, and vegan suede trim. Its range topped out at 320 miles.
This new Long Range AWD version cuts the price while keeping solid performance. Tesla has stopped custom orders for the older Model Y design in the U.S., but some leftover stock is still up for grabs.
What’s new with Juniper
The Juniper update has been popular since it launched in the U.S. Tesla’s Texas Gigafactory is boosting production. The refreshed Model Y gets a new look outside, better suspension, and a quieter ride. It also has an 8-inch screen for back-seat passengers and ventilated front seats.
