Tesla’s New FSD Version Nears v13 Performance, Say Users

Tesla drivers like the new FSD v12.6.3 update. Many say it works better than older versions. Some call it smooth and confident, similar to how v13 performs.

Tesla says Hardware 3 isn’t outdated yet. Executives called v12.6.3 a “baby v13” during a recent earnings call. Drivers with Hardware 3 cars agree the update improves performance.

Elon Musk confirmed Tesla will upgrade Hardware 3 cars to AI4 for free if owners bought FSD. He said this process will be hard but necessary.

Current Tesla cars use AI4 computers. However, Both Hardware 3 and AI4 models get FSD updates.

Drivers shared positive reviews online after testing v12.6.3. One Model 3 owner said,

“The smoothness reminds me of v13. They did a great job here.”

Musk admitted the upgrade plan will take effort.

“We’ll have to upgrade some cars from Hardware 3 to AI4. It’ll be tough, but we’ll do it,”

he said.

  1. The minimal lane change option is required as a separate option in Autopilot setting. Currently it is only for Chill mode and stays only on right slower lanes which is an annoyance and keeps changing lanes due to slower traffic in front.
