Tesla releases FSD V14.1.7 with 2025.38.8.7 update

Tesla launches the new Full Self-Driving update 14.1.7 (firmware 2025.38.8.7) for Model S, 3, X, and Y cars. This combines FSD with the 2025.38 branch. Now you get improved features plus visual modes like Tron and upgraded 3D maps.

Owners receive this update straight after V14.1.4. Versions 14.1.5 and 14.1.6 were only used on Cybertruck to address specific hardware and driving differences. That helped Tesla solve problems before offering the stable version to other owners.

The merge means you don’t have to pick between FSD updates and entertainment features anymore. You now have both on the same branch. The update pushes out Tron mode, map upgrades, improved dashcam, and extra scroll wheel controls. Many new features rely on AMD Ryzen hardware. Intel Atom-based models may miss out on some visuals.

Some early V14 adopters noted initial issues with “brake stabbing”, unnecessary hard braking particularly in version 14.1.1, though subsequent point releases including 14.1.3 and 14.1.4 significantly reduced these occurrences.

This parallel development approach allowed Tesla to maintain rapid iteration for the Cybertruck while preparing a more polished release for the broader vehicle lineup. The strategy appears to have paid off, as V14.1.7 incorporates fixes for issues like “brake stabbing” that plagued earlier V14.1.x releases.

Tron mode for driving display

Tron mode replaces the car with a light cycle on the main dashboard. You see light trails and themed sound effects. To turn it on, go to Toybox then Tron in your Tesla apps. The car’s interior lighting adjusts for the Tron theme. You can pause or stop Tron sounds using the regular controls.

3D maps and better navigation

The 3D building view gives a clear layout of city blocks. Tap the 3D icon or tilt the screen with two fingers to shift the angle. These maps use Google or Baidu data. You need Premium Connectivity. It helps spot turns and parking spaces in crowded streets.

Dashcam and profile improvements

Street names now show in dashcam events. The Tesla app downloads better quality video. Cameras cover more blind spots during drives and while parked. The left scroll wheel menu lets you switch car features like air filters and handling quicker. Apple Music adds new options for users. Profiles need your phone key for switching drivers.

Everything in one update

Bringing FSD to the 2025.38 branch combines driving improvements, entertainment visuals, and new controls for most Tesla users. Owners stay current on features and bug fixes at the same time. FSD version 14.2 is coming soon, with smoother driving and smarter parking for hardware 4 vehicles. Advanced mode updates will depend on your car hardware.

Tesla’s software merge now puts the most-wanted FSD features, visuals, and controls together. This gives owners less hassle and more options for every drive.
