Tesla has started sending its Full Self-Driving (Supervised) version 14.2 to more cars, mainly those with the latest hardware (HW4). CEO Elon Musk has confirmed will be the system’s widespread release to the broader fleet.

The software update comes with a better neural network vision encoder. The update lets the car react to more emergency situations as well.
“Upgraded the neural network vision encoder, leveraging higher resolution features to further improve scenarios like handling emergency vehicles, obstacles on the road, and human gestures.”

Parking and routing
One new feature helps drivers pick where their car should park after arriving and they can choose a parking lot, curb, garage, or driveway, and keep this choice for future trips. The update brings smarter routing by joining navigation with the main vision system. So, the car reacts well to roadblocks, detours, or other random issues on the way.
Driving styles and smoother maneuvers
Version 14.2 supports new driving style profiles. This lets users pick between modes for different road conditions. “Mad Max” mode is quicker and more assertive for highways, while “Sloth” is slower and sticks to the speed limit. The system now manages more complex tasks, like making confident unprotected turns, smoother lane changes, reacting to cars that cut in abruptly, and dealing with school buses properly.
Hardware requirements
Right now, the full set of new features is only for Tesla vehicles with the latest HW4 hardware. Cars with older HW3 are still running on version 12.6 and have not received a major new update in almost a year. Tesla says a “Lite” version of 14 will arrive for HW3 next year, but this version will be less advanced because of the older computer’s limits.
Many early testers say the new system makes quicker and more confident driving decisions. They have seen fewer sudden stops or odd lane changes. Tesla wants to make supervised FSD even smoother in the next updates. Elon Musk has said that by version 14.3, cars might feel “almost sentient.” Tesla plans more updates soon to keep improving how FSD works.
Looking ahead to future global expansion, Tesla is waiting for regulatory clearance in Europe and China before letting more international owners get the new features.
This update is a step closer for Tesla to reach supervised full self-driving on public roads, while HW4 owners now see these new features first. The rollout will continue as more cars get the update in the weeks ahead.
