Elon Musk has again stirred interest in Tesla’s future lineup with a short reply on X. On March 25, he responded to a user who wrote “MAKE A MINIVAN, ELON” under a Cybertruck post by saying: “Something way cooler than a minivan is coming.”

This one sentence has triggered fresh debate about what kind of family‑focused vehicle Tesla might build next.
Robovan stands out as the strongest candidate
Many see the long‑discussed Robovan as the closest match to this hint. Musk has talked for years about building a high‑capacity electric van that can move people and cargo using Tesla’s Full Self‑Driving system. Public presentations in 2024 described a “Robovan” concept with room for around 20 passengers and a cabin set up for autonomous use, with no traditional steering wheel or pedals.

This idea lines up well with the minivan comparison. A Robovan‑type product would target school runs, airport shuttles and large families, the same spaces where minivans and people carriers are common today. At the same time, it would present itself as a step beyond a private family van, leaning on autonomy, shared use and flexible seating.
Cybertruck‑based SUV remains a serious option

There is another path that many Tesla fans talk about. An SUV built on the Cybertruck platform, often nicknamed “CyberSUV.” Over the past few years, observers have pointed to design studio footage and interviews that hint at a closed‑body utility vehicle sharing Cybertruck’s stainless‑steel exoskeleton.

Tesla’s design chief Franz von Holzhausen has said the team has considered a Cybertruck‑style SUV and smaller variants, ending one interview with a simple “wait and see,” which many took as a careful nod toward future derivatives of the platform.
More recently, a “mysterious chassis” spotted at Giga Texas and shared by drone footage sparked new speculation. A post on r/TeslaOwnersForum discussed the structure and compared it with existing models, with some users arguing it looked like an enlarged Model Y L and others calling it an SUV or even a possible CyberSUV shell.

A Cybertruck‑inspired SUV would target families who want more seats and covered cargo space but prefer an SUV profile instead of a pickup bed. It would likely compete with three‑row SUVs and crossovers rather than vans, yet it could still appeal to buyers who might otherwise look at minivans.
There may still be room for a different model
Even so, Musk’s new line does not lock Tesla into either Robovan or CyberSUV. The company has several active vehicle programs, including work on a next‑generation low‑cost platform and a dedicated robotaxi design, alongside continuing efforts on Cybertruck, Roadster and updated versions of Model 3 and Model Y.
Because Musk often drops early hints on social media before formal events, some think this “way cooler than a minivan” remark could point to a yet‑unnamed family or shuttle configuration tied to those newer platforms. It could be a dedicated family robotaxi spec, a long‑range people carrier with flexible seating, or another multi‑row design that has not been clearly described in public. At this stage there is no official confirmation, so any such reading stays in the realm of educated guesswork based on earlier comments and the direction of Tesla’s product roadmap.
