Las Vegas police now use ten Tesla Cybertrucks for active duty. This move comes after a tech donor paid for the full fleet, so local residents didn’t cover the cost. The new vehicles are both practical and safe.
Inside, the Cybertruck has a clean setup. Upfit Tesla redesigned the regular truck to fit police needs. Officers see a large central touchscreen and a laptop, both easy to reach. Mounted siren and light controls also let police act fast during any emergency call.

The truck includes USB-C chargers and phone stations. Overhead police lights and joystick spotlights help with nighttime patrols. There are quick-grab mounts for weapons, including shotguns.

The back seating area uses plastic for its seats, not leather. Police chose this setup since it’s easier to clean after transporting suspects.

A strong see-through partition made of ballistic glass and steel separates the front from the rear. Foam lines the top for safety. This barrier protects officers and keeps the setup tough and simple.
Hidden wiring
Custom wiring for police tools and equipment is hidden. Upfit specialists removed parts and put in equipment so nothing clutters the cabin. The inside still feels like a Tesla, even with the changes. Every detail matches real police work.
Each cybertruck holds more than older patrol cars. Weapons, shields, ladders, and less-lethal tools fit in the bed and side panels. Every area in the city gets at least one Cybertruck to use when needed.
To keep things simple, police use public charging stations for the Cybertrucks. The bigger batteries support long shifts, so officers spend less time waiting to recharge. Charging fits within regular patrol schedules.
Cybertrucks are made for safety and quick response. Sheriff Kevin McMahill said, “try to run from this thing, you can’t because it’s instant torque.” The vehicles have strong crash protections and custom upgrades for police. Officers are now using some of the safest patrol vehicles out there.
This fleet is a first for police departments. Over 400 officers finished Cybertruck training. The department is watching to see how well these trucks work in daily use. Everything from partitions to computer mounts is made for simple, safe policing that gets results.
