Apple Maps is set to include warnings about Tesla’s North America Charging Standard (NACS) adapters in a future update. A code sleuth found new references in an upcoming iOS 18.4 beta update that alert drivers when an adapter is needed for a charging stop.
Aaronp613, a well-known X user, shared the discovery on Monday. The code suggests that Apple Maps will provide a voice alert and a message on the navigation screen. The current iOS version is 18.3.1, so the update is still being tested.

Tesla owners and other EV drivers often use iPhones and Apple devices. Seamless integration between phones and cars is becoming more common. Tesla’s holiday update in December introduced an Apple Watch app, allowing owners to control their cars from their wrists.
Tesla has recently opened its Supercharger network to more EV brands. To avoid confusion, new drivers using these stations will need clear guidance on adapter requirements.
In 2023, many automakers announced plans to switch to NACS for future models. They will also offer adapters for older vehicles with CCS ports.
Apple has not said when iOS 18.4 will be released. The update will help Tesla and other EV owners charge more easily.
