Tesla is getting ready to roll out its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Version 14 update. Elon Musk says this update will be a big step forward for the system, which is still in testing.
The biggest change in FSD V14 is a major jump in the size of its neural network. Musk says it will have ten times more parameters than the current version. He wrote on X that the update will bring “a dramatic gain with a 10X higher parameter count and many other improvements.” The company is still training and testing the new system to make sure it works safely before sending it to customers.
Fewer driver prompts expected
Musk says the update should make the driving experience smoother. The car will ask for driver input less often once FSD V14 is confirmed as safe. Tesla plans to reduce the repeated alerts that many owners find disruptive, without compromising safety.
Tesla is aiming to release FSD V14 in about six weeks. That target could shift depending on test results. Like past updates, Tesla wants to verify safety before making it widely available.

The announcement comes while Tesla continues testing its “Unsupervised FSD” system in Austin and the Bay Area for its robotaxi program. This version is not yet available to regular drivers. Musk says he expects some customers in parts of the U.S. could get access to it by the end of 2025, but only after it passes safety requirements.
FSD is central to Tesla’s future business. Musk has said that self-driving success is key to the company’s value. The scale-up in AI parameters and the focus on real-world performance show that Tesla is investing heavily to keep a lead in autonomous driving.

Is this for both HW3 and HW4?
Probably HW4 first. V14’s new networks are way bigger than HW3 can handle, so HW3 would likely get a trimmed-down version, if at all.
