Construction of Tesla’s Semi truck manufacturing facility is showing significant progress, with newly erected steel beams forming the building’s first complete corner.
Drone footage captured by Tesla Semi advocate Zanegler on Friday morning revealed the Northeast corner of the facility now fully framed with steel columns and beams. The structural framework extends approximately halfway along the Eastern side of the building, continuing southward.
The perimeter structure includes several loading bays, which will be used for receiving raw materials. A single Tesla Semi truck was spotted at the construction site, reportedly being used for what appeared to be a media production.
The Semi plant construction, which began in January at the Giga Nevada site, is part of a larger initiative that includes both the Semi truck facility and a 4680 battery cell production plant. Once operational, these expansions are expected to create approximately 6,500 new full-time positions.
Tesla aims to achieve an annual production capacity of 50,000 Semi trucks when the facility reaches full operation. Production is scheduled to begin in late 2025, with external customer deliveries starting in early 2026.
The company has already delivered early units to select customers, beginning with PepsiCo in 2022, which now operates 86 Tesla Semi trucks. Other companies testing the vehicle include DHL, Walmart, and Martin Brower.
Tesla’s global ambitions for the Semi were highlighted last month when Program Manager Dan Priestley showcased the vehicle at the IAA conference in Münich, Germany. CEO Elon Musk has confirmed plans for worldwide availability of the Semi truck.
