Tesla has put its Supercharger stations on a U.S. highway sign for the first time. This blue sign is before Exit 155 on I-10, near Arizona Mills in Tempe, Arizona. It puts Tesla’s charging logo next to gas station logos. For many years, Tesla didn’t use these signs. Drivers found chargers using in-car navigation.

Now, things are changing. Tesla’s network is open to more than just Tesla cars. Many new electric vehicles from brands like Ford and GM use the same charging plug (the NACS standard). So, The sign is meant for all EV drivers, not only Tesla owners. They can see fast charging is nearby, right on the highway, as clear as gas stations.
Max de Zegher, Tesla’s Director of Charging in North America, explains this move: “99.98%+ of roadtrips are already possible in the US in a Tesla. Tesla drivers know this through their vehicle touchscreen, but too many people have no clue.” The sign aims to show everyone that it’s easy to find a charge.
These signs cost money to install. Tesla pays local authorities for space alongside other service brands. The company plans to add Supercharger signs at other exits soon, picking locations where more traffic and new customers can help.
Tesla’s network is big. In July 2025, there were about 70,000 chargers worldwide, and thousands more have been added this year. The company keeps growing the network, even as it lets cars from other brands use the stations.
This move is part of a larger shift. As more drivers see “EV Charging” on highway signs, public awareness goes up. It should help reduce range anxiety and make electric travel feel as normal as filling up with gas. More signs are coming, and more brands can use the Superchargers. For many, this will make driving an electric car easier than ever before.
