Tesla has started operating one of its biggest Supercharger sites yet. It’s located in Lost Hills, California, off Interstate 5 and Highway 46. The company completed the first phase of the project in just eight months.

Tesla has turned on 84 V4 Superchargers. These are the newest version and can serve both Tesla and non-Tesla electric vehicles. The station will eventually have 168 stalls.

A large solar canopy has been installed above the chargers. This solar array can produce up to 11 megawatts of energy. Ten Tesla Megapacks are placed behind the site to store this power and help charge cars when solar production is low.

The system allows for charging using solar energy during the day and stored energy at night or during peak demand. This setup helps reduce pressure on the grid.

Work is still going on at the site. Tesla is building the second set of 84 chargers, indoor and outdoor lounge areas, and a convenience store. Once finished, this will be one of the largest Supercharger stations Tesla has built.
The solar panels offer shade to drivers and help lower the temperature around the stalls. According to Tesla, this station will support long-distance travel and local charging for a wide range of electric vehicles.
Tesla thanked Kern County and Pacific Gas and Electric Company for their help in making the project happen.
Tesla posted on X:
“84 stalls now open, solely powered by the sun and operating off-grid. Remaining stalls & lounge coming later this year. Safe Fourth of July travels!
Thank you
@CountyofKern and @PGE4Me for collaboration and approvals”
Tesla is expected to finish the rest of the site soon. This launch comes right before the busy Fourth of July travel period.
