Tesla’s sustainability achievements
This event fits into Tesla’s larger plan to push for a cleaner planet, detailed on its Earth Day 2025 page. In 2024, the company reported these milestones:
- Tesla drivers helped avoid over 30 million metric tons of CO2e, equal to driving 90 billion miles with gasoline cars.
- Tesla’s global Supercharger network ran on 100% renewable energy for the fourth straight year.
- Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg operated entirely on renewable electricity for two years.
- Tesla deployed more than 31 GWh of energy storage through Megapack and Powerwall units to help power grids and homes.
- Battery material recovery rose by 136%, recycling enough material to build over 21,000 Model Y RWD vehicles.
Community reaction
Reaction online was mixed. Many Tesla owners said they were excited. X user Jeremy in Illinois said they planned to visit the Des Plaines station.
“Cool, looks like I’m heading to Des Plaines, IL tomorrow. “
Another user praised Kettleman City in California.
“I love Kettleman City’s Tesla Supercharging station. Thanks Tesla for doing this for Earth Day week!”
But some owners were frustrated that their areas were not included. A Canadian X user, Noah Webb, posted a meme captioned cries in Canadian.

In Australia, X user Maxim commented on the absence of local stations. “No love for you, Australia”

Even with some frustration, the overall response showed how much the Supercharger network means to drivers.
Other promotions
Tesla is also running extra events. In Malaysia, free Supercharging will be available at Gurney Plaza in Penang from 10 AM to 10 PM. Tesla’s Refer and Earn program is live from April 22 to 28, 2025. Participants could win a 20th Anniversary Commemorative Speedform Set and RM500 for referring buyers of the Model 3.
In the Philippines, free Supercharging will happen at Shangri-La Plaza in Mandaluyong from 10 AM to 9 PM. This matches the first delivery of Model Y vehicles in the country.
