Tesla is preparing to introduce a sophisticated “trailer profiles” feature, as discovered in the internal code of update version 2024.45.32.
This development was first reported by Tesla code researcher greentheonly on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.
The new functionality will enable users to create detailed profiles for their trailers, leading to more accurate energy consumption estimates during towing operations.
Key Capabilities of Trailer Profiles
The upcoming feature will allow Tesla owners to record essential information about their trailers, including:
- Detailed mileage tracking for each specific trailer
- Classification options for trailer types (open, enclosed, and other variants)
- Support for up to 20 distinct trailer profiles
- Ability to reset mileage counters as needed
Initially, users will need to manually identify trailers, but greentheonly suggests future iterations may use Tesla Vision to automatically detect trailer types, streamlining the process.
Additional Update Features
Beyond the trailer profiles, the forthcoming update will introduce:
- Enhanced navigation preferences, including “prioritize highway” and “prioritize time” options
- Three new Tencent game icons specifically for the Chinese market

In September, Tesla outlined plans to increase the number of pull-through charging stalls across its Supercharger network.
These specialized stalls allow vehicles with trailers to charge without disconnecting their cargo.
To optimize usage, Tesla has installed signage stating “Priority for trailers, please use last,” encouraging proper use of these charging spaces.
