Tesla has released App Update 4.42.5 for both Android and iOS. This update improves Tesla Assist, the AI-powered assistant found in the Service section of the Tesla app.
Tesla Assist was first introduced in version 4.35.5. It started as a basic tool for answering common Tesla-related questions, but it wasn’t personalized. Now, that’s changing.
Personalized Support
With this update, Tesla Assist can give personalized responses. You can now specify which vehicle or product your question is about. Right now, the assistant can provide details on a few topics, like tire pressure. More features may be added later.
You can now ask questions such as:
- “What alerts were recently triggered on my vehicle?”
- “Is my tire pressure low?”
- “Will this key fob work with my vehicle?”
Tesla pulls this information from owner’s manuals, tutorials, and your vehicle’s data.

Future Updates
Tesla Assist still can’t answer everything. For example, it won’t tell you how many miles are on your vehicle. But some responses now mention, “Based on your vehicle’s data…,” suggesting Tesla may expand its capabilities.
Tesla hasn’t confirmed what powers this assistant, but it could be related to Grok, the AI that’s coming to Tesla vehicles.
To try Tesla Assist, go to the Service section of the Tesla app or tap the question mark in the upper-right corner of the main menu. If you’ve seen any interesting responses, let us know.
