Tesla Reveals Design Inspiration Behind Cybercab’s Gold Color

Tesla’s Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen recently provided insights into the distinctive gold color of the Cybercab (Robotaxi) during an interview at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California.
Design and Color Inspiration
Von Holzhausen explained that the gold color is a deliberate design choice, drawing inspiration from New York City’s iconic yellow taxi tradition.
“We chose the color gold, and it’s really a special color,”
he stated.
“It reflects a future version of the idea of a New York City yellow cab—taking that iconic yellow and creating something more expressive and up to date.”

The company unveiled the Cybercab design on October 10 during the “We, Robot” event. Tesla aims to:

Achieve volume production of two million vehicles per year
Offer flexible purchase or lease options
Von Holzhausen also noted that customers will be able to acquire the vehicle for varying durations, potentially transforming personal transportation models.
