Tesla Cybercabs have been seen in larger numbers during tests at the company’s Texas Gigafactory. Drone footage from the Austin plant this week shows the vehicles in action.

Joe Tegtmeyer, who monitors Giga Texas and flies drones, shared photos and a construction update video on Monday. The photos show the new Cybercab being tested at the facility.

The vehicle has a steering wheel and a human operator. This has led to speculation that the Cybercab could be linked to Tesla’s plans for a cheaper, mass-market car.

Tegtmeyer said it was hard to count exactly how many Cybercabs were being tested because they were constantly moving around the factory. He mentioned seeing at least three at once but estimated there could be five or more.

Tesla appears to be increasing Cybercab testing at Giga Texas since its unveiling. This is the highest number of Cybercabs seen at the factory so far.

You can watch Joe’s full drone footage below:

The first Cybercab was spotted testing at Gigafactory Texas in November, just weeks after its reveal at Tesla’s October 10 event in Los Angeles.

Earlier videos showed a Model 3 and a Lidar-equipped Model Y following the Cybercab, likely to assist with testing. These vehicles were not seen in Tegtmeyer’s recent footage.

In December, a report suggested Tesla might use teleoperation for Cybercab’s autonomous robotaxi services at first. This would add safety and redundancy during the initial rollout.
