Tesla stopped selling the Model Y Performance in January 2025 when the refreshed Juniper version launched. Drivers have been asking about the return of this variant, which is known for quick acceleration and handling that works for both families and track days.
Testing at Nürburgring
Engineers spent time testing the new Model Y Performance on the Nürburgring circuit in Germany. Videos and photographs throughout 2025 showed new updates compared to the old Performance model. This model has gone through a long development process to improve speed and handling.
Predicted specs
Industry reports say the new car should come with about 510 horsepower from a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup. It can go from 0-60 mph in roughly 3.2 to 3.4 seconds, which is faster than before. The top speed may hit 160-163 mph, higher than the previous 155 mph. The battery is Tesla’s 82 kWh pack. Estimated EPA range is between 280-290 miles.
The exterior has new 21-inch forged wheels with Pirelli P Zero E tires, a carbon fiber spoiler, different front and rear bumpers, red brake calipers, and Performance badges. Inside, there’s an all-black headliner, sport bucket seats, and extra bolstering for more support when cornering. The chassis gets adaptive dampers and a lower ride height. The suspension and anti-roll bars are updated. Brakes are bigger and made for high performance.
Tesla plans to add Track Mode V3, which lets drivers control how the car handles. Drivers can change torque between front and rear motors. There’s new stability control with drift capability and the suspension adjusts in real time as you drive.
Analysts predict a starting price near $57,000 before taxes and incentives. The Model Y Performance is competing with other fast electric SUVs like the BMW iX3 M, and with brands from China, including BYD, XPeng, and Xiaomi. Tesla’s teaser suggests the first deliveries might be in Europe, especially with production at Gigafactory Berlin. Deliveries are expected globally by the end of 2025. Tesla wants to keep its place in electric car sales, and this Performance edition could attract people looking for both speed and space. Full specifications, prices, and delivery details will be released soon.
