Tesla is doing well in Norway again. Sales rose 54% in June compared to the same month last year. Most of that growth came from the updated Model Y, which saw a 115% jump. In May, the increase was even higher at 213%.

Why Norwegians like the Model Y

Christina Bu, who leads the Norwegian EV Association, said the Model Y is popular because it’s practical. She pointed out the cargo space, all-wheel drive, and how well it works in snow. Drivers also like that it’s easy to charge and has features that work well in Norwegian winters.

EVs now make up almost all new car sales in Norway

Electric vehicles now make up 97.7% of all new cars sold in Norway. Battery-electric vehicles, or BEVs, alone account for 96.9%. The Model Y made up about a quarter of BEV sales in June. It’s the top-selling car of any type in Norway this year, with a 17.3% market share.

Low interest rates help sales

Local banks have been offering zero-interest loans on EVs, including the Model Y Long Range. That makes it easier for people to buy. Norway also offers long-standing benefits for EV drivers like no VAT, lower tolls, and bus-lane access.

Tesla’s numbers in Norway are strong, but its performance across Europe is mixed. Sales are falling in Sweden, Denmark, France, Italy, and Germany. Analysts blame stronger competition and controversy around Elon Musk. But in southern Europe, things look better. Sales went up 61% in Spain in June and grew slightly in Portugal.
