After months of speculation, we have our first look at the facelifted Tesla Model Y Juniper Refresh.
The vehicle appears without disguise, showcasing significant design changes.
The highly anticipated facelift for the 2025 Tesla Model Y electric SUV—reportedly codenamed Juniper has finally been revealed through undisguised spy photos.
The license plate frame features a Chinese design, and these photos were reportedly taken during winter testing in Northeast China.
A formal unveiling is expected imminently, exciting fans and potential buyers alike.
Images posted across social media confirm the updated Model Y will not merely replicate the latest Model 3 sedan.
Instead, it features unique styling to distinguish it on the road.
Juniper spotted near Palo Alto (Jan 8th):
As promised, here is the mobile video of the ultra red Model Y Juniper that I saw yesterday.

The video is not the best because my window has washer fluid on it and I closed it while trying to open it all the way. The video was shot in 4k 60fps but X max upload size is 1080p. But… pic.twitter.com/eoGd4E6PT5
As hinted in earlier spy images of disguised prototypes, the updated Model Y will incorporate split headlights similar to the Cybercab.
The design includes upper daytime-running lights and lower main beams, divided by a light bar spanning the nose.
The tailgate is completely new, with a light bar running across the rear end.
This bar is anticipated to feature the iconic ‘TESLA’ script in its center, offering a distinctive touch.
The sportier rear bumper reportedly houses the number plate, contributing to an overall modern aesthetic.
While the vehicle spotted showcases a new front bumper resembling the latest Model 3 Performance, its wheels appear to be a fresh design in the standard 19-inch size.
This is a departure from the 21-inch wheels of the current Model Y Performance.
Full details are expected soon, as Tesla ramps up production of the vehicle in China.
Wait times in certain European countries have extended to mid-year.
This suggests buyers who place orders there may receive the new model instead of leftover stock from the current version.
If history serves as a guide, the updated Model Y could arrive in showrooms about two to three months after its global unveiling.
The mid-life upgrade for what is likely to remain the world’s top-selling car is expected to introduce an upgraded interior.
Features similar to the 2024-onwards Model 3 will include a larger screen and new front seats with ventilation.
Additionally, reports indicate a possible deletion of the steering column stalks.
Instead, indicators may move to buttons on the steering wheel, with the gear shifter transitioning to a slider on the side of the touchscreen.
While it’s unclear if changes to the electric motors and battery packs are in store, stylistic alterations could enhance aerodynamics.
This, in turn, may improve the driving range, making the Model Y even more appealing.
More details about the 2025 Tesla Model Y ‘Juniper’—or ‘Opal,’ as some reports suggest it may also be called—are anticipated closer to its global debut.
