While Tesla vehicles have been joining police fleets across the country, this marks the first time the high-performance Model S Plaid has been specifically outfitted for law enforcement duty by UP.FIT, Unplugged Performance’s specialized division for police and fleet vehicles.
The choice of the Model S Plaid is notable given its impressive specs: 0-60 mph in just 1.99 seconds, a top speed of 200 mph, and 359 miles of range. The vehicle has set multiple world records, including an 8.56-second quarter-mile run achieved this past July.
This latest addition expands UP.FIT’s growing lineup of police-converted Teslas.
The company has already successfully deployed Model Y and Model 3 units to various U.S. police departments and recently introduced a police version of the Cybertruck, which law enforcement agencies are also adopting.
Beyond their police vehicle conversions, Unplugged Performance is well-known in racing circles, particularly for their work on Randy Pobst’s modified Model S Plaid “Dark Helmet,” which has competed multiple times in the prestigious Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb.
