Tesla’s latest software, version 2025.32.3, now gives new safety alerts aimed at helping drivers who get tired or lose focus, according to insights from well-known Tesla hacker @greentheonly. If the car spots lane drifting or signs of drowsiness, it tells the driver: “Lane drift detected. Let FSD assist so you can stay focused” or “Drowsiness detected. Stay focused with FSD”.

These notifications appear when the system, using the cabin camera or lane sensors, sees that the driver isn’t staying on track or looks sleepy. The car suggests turning on Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised. Tesla still asks drivers to pay full attention, even with FSD running, but these new messages show Tesla wants the software to step in during risky moments.

Tesla makes it clear that the driver must always be alert and hands-on. These new warnings don’t change the requirement: FSD Supervised needs a present, attentive driver. The alerts don’t mean it’s safe to check out or ignore the road.

Moving toward full automation

Tesla is working on FSD V14, which the company claims will be a major improvement. Regulatory approval is needed before drivers can leave all tasks to the system. For now, even the advanced systems on new vehicles require human supervision.

These updates mark a shift in Tesla’s approach, using FSD as direct support for drivers who aren’t at peak performance. Safety advocates and regulators are sure to watch if drivers become too reliant on these prompts in unsafe situations. The real test will be how drivers use these features in practice.

Tesla’s strategy is clear, use software to catch risky driving signs and offer help at the right time.
