Tesla FSD Supervised hits 1 million kilometers in Australia and NZ

Tesla’s Full Self-Driving Supervised system went public in Australia and New Zealand on September. In less than two weeks, the combined distance driven by owners crossed 1 million kilometers. Model 3 and Model Y cars built with Hardware 4 received the update first. Tesla confirmed the milestone on its official X account.

1 million kilometers on FSD Supervised in AU & NZ

Local drivers collectively covered about 80,000 kilometers daily with FSD Supervised enable, equal to 67 laps around Australia or 625 trips from Auckland to Invercargill.

Driving experiences

One standout trip came from Harald Murphy, an electric vehicle enthusiast. He drove his Model Y around Australia, covering 13,577 kilometers almost entirely using FSD Supervised. Murphy had to disengage the system only for overtaking trucks in bad weather or steering into charging bays.

He estimates fewer than 10 kilometers required manual control during the journey. Most owners in the region still have cars with Hardware 3, which aren’t able to use FSD Supervised yet. Tesla is working to make it available to more vehicles.

Pricing and feature changes

Tesla will offer FSD Supervised as a subscription at $149 a month in Australia and $159 a month in New Zealand. There’s also an option to buy permanent access for $10,100 AUD or $11,400 NZD. Tesla removed Enhanced Autopilot for new buyers; now the choices are standard Autopilot or FSD Supervised. This software is hands-on, drivers have to stay alert at all times. If the cabin camera detects the driver isn’t watching the road, warnings will sound and repeated distraction disables the feature for that drive.

FSD Supervised supports lane changes, roundabouts, and highway exits but does not fully automate driving. Tesla uses driving data from millions of kilometers to refine the system. With more drivers gaining access, further growth in usage is expected.
