Tesla China has started releasing features inspired by its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system. The update isn’t labeled as FSD, but users are happy with how it performs in real-world conditions.
Social media posts recently shared videos of the update working on public roads in China, showing what it can do.
Not an FSD update
On Tesla China’s official website, the new features are part of software update 2024.45.32.12. The biggest improvement is the release of “Autopilot automatic assisted driving on urban roads,” which closely resembles FSD’s city street driving features.
Tesla China Describes the Update
“Using Autopilot automatic assisted driving on controlled roads (main roads with ramp entrances and exits) and urban roads will guide the vehicle through ramps and intersections based on the navigation route. It identifies traffic lights for going straight, turning left, turning right, or turning around. It also changes lanes automatically based on speed and route. If no navigation route is set, it selects the best road based on actual conditions.”
According to Tesla watchers, the update being rolled out in China is v13.2.6, available only for AI4 vehicles.
First videos surface
Early observations show that the “City Autopilot” update isn’t fully zero-intervention yet, but users are impressed with its performance.
Videos of the system operating on Chinese streets have gained significant attention online. Some social media users noted that the system handles traffic well.
