Tesla has confirmed it’s working on a more advanced cleaning solution for the Cybertruck’s cameras.

Customer Concerns

Unlike traditional vehicles, the Cybertruck uses a rear camera feed instead of a rearview mirror.

The Cybertruck has a full set of cameras that provide a 360-degree view around the vehicle. But some owners say the cameras get dirty too fast.

For example, Cybertruck owner @DirtyTesla said dirt often blocks the cameras.

Another owner, @cybrtrkguy, joked that if he doesn’t clean the cameras before driving, he gets errors like “multiple cameras blocked or blinded.”

Tesla AI Team’s Response

At first, the Tesla AI team responded with playful comments, suggesting owners might need to clean the cameras themselves.

However, this approach drew criticism from longtime FSD tester Chuck Cook.

Cook pointed out that Tesla should have a more robust plan for keeping the cameras clean, especially with the upcoming release of FSD Unsupervised.

“While I agree cleaning cameras while supervised is something we need to consider, having an official post from Tesla AI about cleaning our own cameras is a bit concerning. You have a plan for this, right? Unsupervised can’t have customers wiping cameras,”

A Solution in the Works

The Tesla AI team later responded, confirming that the company is working on a better cleaning system for the Cybertruck’s cameras.

“On a more serious note, a more comprehensive cleaning solution is being worked on,”

the Tesla AI team stated in a post on X.

This update is particularly important as Tesla prepares to launch its robotaxi services, where clean and functional cameras will be critical for safety and performance.
