Tesla’s Lead Cybertruck Engineer, Wes Morrill, has confirmed multiple Cybertruck registrations in Europe following a notable sighting in the Netherlands.

The confirmation came after Morrill shared an image on X of a Cybertruck with Albanian license plates driving near Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Further investigation revealed that this particular Cybertruck belongs to rapper Kosso, who acquired the vehicle in Oisterwijk.

The vehicle was subsequently spotted in Lanaken, Belgium, as reported by Nieuwsblad, which verified Kosso’s ownership.

Previous European Registrations

Prior to this incident, there were other reported Cybertruck registrations in the European Union.

A Tesla Advisor based in France reported the first Cybertruck registration in the Czech Republic.

However, specific details about the registration process were not disclosed.

Regulatory Challenges and Future Plans

During Tesla’s Annual Shareholder Meeting in June, CEO Elon Musk stated that Cybertruck certification for markets outside North America could occur in 2025.

This timeline indicates the company’s plans for expanding the Cybertruck’s availability internationally.

However, the initial release will be exclusive to North America.

The company has suggested the possibility of developing a specific version of the Cybertruck for European and Chinese markets.

Tesla’s Vice President of Vehicle Engineering, Lars Moravy, previously expressed concerns about European registration eligibility in an interview with Top Gear.

He highlighted regulatory challenges, noting that European regulations require a 3.2mm external radius, which is unachievable with the Cybertruck’s 1.4mm stainless steel sheets.

Global Exhibition Strategy

Despite regulatory challenges, Tesla has shown its global ambitions for the Cybertruck with worldwide display tours. The company has:

  • Announced plans to bring the Cybertruck to the United Kingdom and various European locations in April
  • Displayed the vehicle throughout Asia, including China and Japan
  • Showcased the Cybertruck at Gigafactory Berlin in March

It’s notable that while these display units weren’t registered vehicles, recent European registrations likely indicate private imports by buyers from North America.

Lead Cybertruck Engineer, Morrill’s Response to Registration Queries

When questioned about how European buyers could register Cybertrucks, Morrill’s response was notably succinct, suggesting interested parties should “Make friends.”

He later acknowledged that he had initially overlooked some previously registered Cybertrucks in Europe.

This effectively confirmed multiple successful registrations in the region.
