Tesla Begins Offering Standard Cybertruck Orders, Starting at $79,990
Tesla has started inviting customers to order the non-Foundation Series Cybertruck, with prices beginning at $79,990 before options. This move signals the imminent start of production for the standard variants of the all-electric pickup truck.
The Foundation Series, which added $20,000 to the base price, is being phased out. This means the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) Cybertruck now starts at $79,990, down from $99,990, while the tri-motor Cyberbeast begins at $99,990, reduced from $119,990.
Social media and forum posts reveal that customers can now order the Cybertruck without the premium features included in the Foundation Series.
Delivery estimates for non-Foundation Series Cybertrucks are set for October to November 2024. Interestingly, the standard AWD Cybertruck’s range is listed at 325 miles per charge, slightly lower than the 340-mile range of its Foundation Series counterpart.
Tesla community members have noted that ordering a standard Cybertruck with all the options included in the Foundation Series results in a minimal price difference. Early reservation holders can add Full Self-Driving (FSD) for $7,000, Cyber Wheels and Covers for $3,500, and White Interior for $2,000, among other features.
When factoring in additional perks like the Tesla Shop voucher, various accessories, Powershare capabilities, and lifetime Premium Connectivity, the price difference between a fully-loaded standard Cybertruck and the Foundation Series amounts to about $3,000 or less for early adopters. This has led some customers to conclude that the Foundation Series premium offered good value.
It remains unclear whether the standard Cybertruck AWD will qualify for the U.S. federal tax credit. As Tesla continues to roll out these new ordering options, potential buyers are weighing the costs and benefits of the various configurations available.
