Tesla aims to fix brake stabbing with FSD v14.2

Tesla owners using FSD v14 have felt their cars brake sharply and quickly at some intersections or near pedestrians. The car sometimes brakes several times in a row. This makes the ride feel rough and unpredictable. Many see it as a sign the car’s system cannot yet read road and human cues like a person does.

Earlier builds, such as v14.1.1, reduced the problem a little. Still, some hesitation stayed. FSD v14.1.3 went back and forth, making the brakes less sudden but keeping some jerkiness. With v14.1.4 and v14.1.7, testers found the system more smooth, but some braking quirks didn’t go away. It seems like improvement is steady but not finished.

Elon Musk’s Statement on v14.2

Elon Musk replied to testers on social media and confirmed that FSD v14.2 will roll out to all vehicles with the newest HW4 computer. He mentioned, “14.2 for widespread use” and hinted at a release before Christmas 2025.

Testers say lane changes feel more confident, and driving is less jittery. The updated Mad Max mode helps the car drive better in heavy traffic. Musk expects v14.2 will fix most remaining brake issues for HW4 owners in North America. Other cars will get updates later, but not at first.

Tesla’s software team is working on more updates before the end of 2025 and after v14.2, a v14.3 version should follow. FSD v14 now sits on stronger base software, so tweaks can be done faster. Some features like new speed controls and arrival settings are only possible on newer hardware. Owners with HW3 will get FSD v14 Lite by mid-2026, but it will not have all the same features.

Fixing brake stabbing could make the driving smoother while Tesla wants FSD to get closer to true self-driving. Many think that, unless the car drives with less hesitation, people will never fully trust it. Musk says steady improvements and wider releases are coming, and drivers hope v14.2 will deliver. For now, many are waiting to try v14.2 and see if Tesla has solved the issue.
