Tesla has launched a new Wall Connector charger in the Netherlands. This charger now includes a MID-certified meter. The price is €570, or about $672. The charger helps people measure home charging costs better, which is important for many in Europe.

The new Wall Connector works like Tesla’s other home chargers. It now meets MID requirements for measuring electricity. It connects using Wi-Fi, gets updates wirelessly, and fits any Type 2 car charging port. The charger gives up to 71 km of range per hour and outputs up to 22 kW through a three-phase power supply. Users get a 7.3-meter cable. The charger can be set up inside or outdoors. Users manage and track their charging remotely through the Tesla app.

Why MID certification

MID stands for Measuring Instruments Directive. It’s a standard used across the European Union. MID certification means the charger’s meter is accurate enough for business use. It meets the requirements for making sure data is secure, reliable, and can be used as legal proof. The charger creates secure energy-usage logs, which employers can then use for paying staff back for their electricity. The device is protected from tampering, and the readings are highly accurate.

Tesla released this MID-approved charger in Denmark first, now it is being sold in the Netherlands. More European markets may get it soon. Tesla is focusing on selling charging gear as car sales slow. In 2025, the company’s “services and other” category grew sales from $2.61 billion in Q2 2024 to $3 billion.

Corporate fleet and charging at home

This new charger is focused on the company car market. In Europe, job-related car sales make up about 60% of all new vehicles. Firms need ways to pay back employees for home charging. Rules for this change in different countries. In Belgium, companies can pay back workers per kWh with government rates, which change by region. In Germany, a monthly flat payment of up to €70 is allowed if no office charger is provided.

The charger links up with charging management platforms, like Monta. These systems help companies automate home charging payments. Monta users in the UK, Ireland, Sweden, and Denmark are already using Tesla’s charger to connect to over 500,000 public charging points. With this setup, employees don’t need a separate electricity meter at home, and companies can easily track and pay for the energy used for work travel.

More people in Europe drove electric vehicles between 2020 and 2023. Over those years, there were 14.8 million new electric registrations. Battery electric vehicle sales fell by 5.9% in 2024, down to about 1.45 million units. Company fleets are making the switch to electric cars faster. Company car battery electric sales were 14.1%, with private sales at 15.6%. New emissions rules for 2025 are expected to speed up the change to electric for more companies.

Tesla’s charging business keeps growing. The Supercharger network grew by 2,900 new stalls and saw an 18% increase from the previous year. By offering a MID-certified charger, Tesla meets legal energy tracking needs and makes it easier for employers to handle company car charging.
