Tesla has started releasing Full Self-Driving version 14.1 for select cars with Hardware 4. FSD V14.2 will be ready in a few weeks, with V14.3 after more safety checks, Elon Musk shared on X.
“Many more Tesla self-driving V14 improvements still to come, but wide rollout of V14.1 has begun.
14.2 rolls out in a few weeks and then 14.3 a few weeks later, depending on safety testing.
There is so much change that we are carefully confirming each one.”
FSD 14.1 brings changes straight from Tesla’s Robotaxi system and drivers can pick exactly where to park, a spot in a lot, curbside, driveway, garage, or street. Emergency response is better, so the car can pull over or yield to fire trucks, police, and ambulances without human help.
Navigation is smarter. The software uses vision-based neural networks for live route adjustments. If a road is blocked, the car can find a new way. Camera cleaning is now built in and activates at higher speeds, helping keep the cameras clear.
Tesla added a “Sloth” driving mode for those who want a slower pace. FSD starts with one tap on the touchscreen now. Parking and garage maneuvers are more reliable. Reverse parking and destination parking are included for the first time.
Elon Musk says 14.2 will make cars “feel almost like it is sentient.” Tesla’s AI team plans even more updates before the year ends. Each step goes through strict safety checks before wider release.
Owners of Hardware 4 vehicles get these updates first. Eligible cars include new Model S, Model X, Model Y, Model 3, and Cybertruck. Tesla plans to upgrade Hardware 3 cars later if needed, but has not given a date.
Cybertruck will get FSD 14.1 soon. Its software needs more work with its steering and bigger size to make all features work well.
FSD 14 is still a supervised system. Drivers must pay attention and keep hands on the wheel. Experts estimate FSD 14 can go over 1,200 miles before a human needs to step in. This is a big jump, but it is not yet a full self-driving system.
Tesla is pushing new versions and features quickly now. FSD 14 brings stronger parking, navigation, and emergency options. Tesla plans even more changes with 14.2 and 14.3. Elon Musk and the team believe the cars are getting closer to human-like driving.
