Tesla’s Diner in Los Angeles is packed day and night, people wait outside and it stays open 24/7. Since July, it has been serving customers on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood. The site has about 80 charging stations for electric cars. Still, most people come for the food, movies, and convenience. Elon Musk says the success has led Tesla to plan two new diners, one close to the Gigafactory in Texas and another by Tesla’s engineering hub in Palo Alto.
Menu prices are basic. Burgers, fries, and hot dogs range from $4 to $15. Chef Eric Greenspan sets up the menu. Restaurant operator Bill Chait, who runs other famous spots in the city, helps manage the diner. Food comes in Cybertruck-shaped packaging.

Shoppers can get diner-themed shirts and candy as well.
Design blends “retro-futuristic” style with practical choices. There is balcony seating and two large movie screens. Supercharger stalls let drivers charge up while eating. Staff use roller skates to deliver meals. You order food from your Tesla’s touchscreen or the company app. Location tracking lets the kitchen prepare food so it’s hot when you arrive. Pickup and car-side delivery options are available.
Tesla sold nearly 50,000 burgers in the third quarter, over 715 every day. Opening day sales topped $47,000 in six hours, which is 30% better than sales at a nearby McDonald’s. Now, there are five sandwiches and a few sides. Breakfast is served only until 2 pm. Soda, milkshakes, and frozen drinks are sold in reusable Tesla bottles.
Despite its commercial success, the Tesla Diner has become a focal point for some protesters as well. Others just come for the food or the scene. Many want to see the robots hand out popcorn or try the food. It has become a tourist spot for fans, locals, and even non-Tesla owners.
Global expansion plans
Beyond the Austin and Palo Alto locations, Tesla has broader ambitions for the diner concept. Musk stated that if successful, Tesla would “establish these in major cities around the world, as well as at Supercharger sites on long distance routes”
Also, Franz von Holzhausen, Tesla’s chief designer, confirmed in a September 2025 interview that global expansion is planned, stating “We’ve been talking about diners located around the world. I think it’s just a matter of staying tuned. We’re checking it out”
Elon Musk wants to build more diners after these first two. The goal is major locations in big cities and near more Supercharger stations. He describes it as “an island of good food, good vibes & entertainment, all while supercharging!” A second diner in Starbase, Texas, home to SpaceX, may be next.
Tesla’s diner is changing how drivers spend time charging their cars. Customers eat and relax while waiting. The mix of tech and entertainment keeps people interested. And, while the food isn’t fancy, visitors still return for the full experience.
