The U.S. Department of Justice has put out a clear message. People attacking Tesla properties could go to prison for 5 to 20 years. This comes as police look into a string of incidents targeting Tesla cars and charging spots in several states. Attorney General Bondi calls these “domestic terrorism.”
Charges are filed against three people so far. They used Molotov cocktails and set fires. These events happened in Oregon, Colorado, and South Carolina. It looks like a planned effort against the electric car company. Federal lawyers are taking it seriously and promise tough punishment.
More Attacks as Musk Joins Trump Team
The rise in violence comes at a time when Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, is getting attention. He’s now part of the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. No one has proven the attacks connect to Musk’s new job. But the timing makes people wonder why this is happening now.
Who’s Behind It?
Police haven’t said much about the suspects. Their names and groups they might be with are still under wraps. The DOJ is focused on stopping more attacks on Tesla sites. Bondi said,
“The swarm of violent attacks on Tesla property is nothing short of domestic terrorism. The Department of Justice has already charged several perpetrators with that in mind, including in cases that involve charges with five-year mandatory minimum sentences. We will continue investigations that impose severe consequences on those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate and fund these crimes.”
Public Asked to Help
The DOJ wants people to report anything odd near Tesla locations. They’re working hard to keep threats in check.
