Tesla begins Model Y Standard production in Berlin and orders are now open, and deliveries start in November 2025. The new trim drops the price for buyers who want a Tesla but see premium features as too expensive.

In Germany, the Model Y Standard costs about €39,990. Buyers in Norway pay around 421,996 kroner. Tesla kept the price below $40,000 in the U.S. Markets across Europe and overseas get a more affordable option. Tesla didn’t lower prices to $30,000, but this update helps buyers who want to save money while still getting an EV.

The Model Y Standard uses a single rear-wheel motor and a 69 kWh battery and the range is roughly 332 miles (WLTP). Top speed reaches 201 km/h. So, acceleration from zero to 100 km/h takes about seven seconds and fast charging gives about 165 miles in 15 minutes. Also, this model offers about 300 horsepower.

Tesla removed some features to cut costs. No rear passenger screen, fewer sound system speakers, and only front heated seats remain. Buyers get fabric and vegan leather seats, not just vegan leather. Steering and mirror adjustments are manual. The glass roof is covered with a fabric liner. You only choose between three main colors; gray, white, or black. This trim offers basic Autopilot functions, with features like lane centering and cruise control, but traffic light and stop sign recognition requires software upgrades.

Why Tesla lowered the price

Tesla rolled out this trim as competition got tougher and the $7,500 U.S. tax credit ended. Sales dropped in Europe, mainly because brands like BYD and others released cheaper EVs. Many buyers care most about price, so Tesla focused on giving them a lower-cost choice. This strategy targets people who want an EV but do not want extra options or luxury inside.

Tesla’s Cybertruck Rear-Wheel Drive was discontinued after only a few months. It was $10,000 cheaper and lacked key features, but not enough buyers wanted it. The Model Y Standard now offers a bigger price gap, with over €10,000 difference in Germany. This bigger gap makes it more attractive to buyers looking for a simple and solid EV. Tesla’s Berlin factory builds cars for more than 30 regions, supplying places like Canada and Australia after tariffs blocked U.S. exports.

Production increased at Berlin’s Gigafactory, as Tesla expects strong sales of the new trim. Head of Production André Thierig called this “a remarkable milestone,” with quick rollout compared to earlier updates. Buyers who can let go of some options now get a Tesla at a lower entry cost. Demand will show how well this new model fits market needs, while the EV race heats up in Europe and around the world.
