Tesla has fixed a problem for users who care about both security and self-driving features. The latest software update, 2025.32.3.1, lets people use “Start FSD From Park” with “PIN to Drive” turned on. Here’s what this means and why it matters.
Tesla used to make drivers choose. The “PIN to Drive” feature asks for a four-digit code before the car can leave park. It’s an extra security step to stop someone stealing the car. But if this was switched on, the “Start FSD From Park” button would not show up. Drivers had to enter their pin, shift into drive, and then start FSD through the stalk controls. It added extra steps and lost the simple button.
Now, with update 2025.32.3.1, both features work together. If a driver turns on “Start FSD From Park” and has “PIN to Drive” active, the screen asks for the pin. Once entered, FSD kicks in, and the car starts driving itself. This makes it easier to keep the car secure and use self-driving the way it’s meant to be.
The fix isn’t written in the release notes, but users noticed the change. Dan Burkland, a Tesla owner, pointed it out online after testing the update. Now, more people in Tesla forums are talking about how both features just work together like they should.

To whoever @Tesla heard this feedback and finally remediated the compatibility issue between "PIN to Drive" and "Start FSD (Supervised) from Park, THANK YOU! I always felt like I wasn't getting the full FSD experience due to… pic.twitter.com/6ah68gnKDD
“PIN to Drive” has been around since 2018 to fight against car theft. “Start FSD From Park” is much newer. It rolled out as part of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving version 13. It’s supposed to let a Tesla leave park and start driving to a set spot, all with one touch, so long as the driver supervises.
This improvement is a big help for users who want both security and ease of use. The change shows Tesla can tweak software and make these cars better for everyone, often quietly and without fuss. Future updates will likely keep fixing small things like this as users point them out.
Beyond this, the same update brought some other changes:
- Low power mode saves battery when parked.
- There’s now a way to make the car cooler in dog mode, down to 64°F (18°C).
- A vision-based airbag upgrade improves safety in new models.
- Bluetooth audio lag got better for cars with AMD chipsets.
Tesla keeps adjusting its cars through software. Small updates like this one can make a big difference for a lot of drivers.
