Tesla’s LA Drive-In and Supercharger Station Adds First LED Screen
The highly anticipated Tesla diner, Supercharger, and drive-in movie theater project in Los Angeles has reached a significant milestone with the installation of its first full-size LED display screen.
Recent drone footage from 247Tesla reveals that the Northern side of the property now features a completed 45-foot LED screen, marking a major step forward in the project’s development.
This screen is part of Tesla’s vision to showcase clips from classic films, an idea first proposed by Elon Musk in 2018.
According to project details, the screens will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., while both the diner and charging facilities will maintain 24-hour service.
The displays are strategically positioned to be visible from both the restaurant building and the Supercharging area.
Recent construction updates also show progress on the main building, with the diner’s front entrance now complete following the installation of glass panels approximately two weeks ago.
The project’s timeline shows steady progress:
- September 2023: Initial groundbreaking
- November 2023: First restaurant building structures erected
- March 2024: First screen frame installation on the Northern side
- July 2024: Second screen frame added (Western side installation was delayed due to power line considerations)
Located at 7001 Santa Monica Blvd., the facility has been approved for up to 32 charging stations, with Tesla’s next-generation V4 Superchargers being installed on site.
The restaurant itself is designed to capture a 1950s aesthetic, complete with roller-skating waitstaff, rock and roll music, and multi-level dining areas.
In another promising development, Tesla has begun the hiring process for the diner, suggesting the possibility of the facility opening its doors by the end of 2024.
The second screen awaits its LED display installation, while ongoing construction continues with additional conduit work throughout the site.
When completed, this unique combination of charging station, restaurant, and entertainment venue will represent a new chapter in Tesla’s expanding charging network.
