Tesla Semi Production Begins in 2025

The Tesla Semi is set to begin production in 2025, bringing electric trucking closer to reality. First shown in 2017, this Class 8 truck aims to change the transportation industry.

A new factory in Nevada is being built to produce up to 50,000 Tesla Semis each year.

The factory is nearly ready, with walls and roofs in place to handle the weather. Mechanical installations will start soon.

During a recent earnings call, Tesla’s Vice President of Vehicle Engineering shared that the first high-volume Semis will be made late this year.

Full production will start in early 2026. Tesla wants to make these trucks affordable for operators by keeping costs low over time.

The Tesla Semi also includes advanced self-driving features, which could attract logistics companies and drivers.

Elon Musk has highlighted the value of this technology compared to diesel trucks:

“Compared to diesel, Tesla Semi trucks have a lot more acceleration, uphill power and computer-controlled safety features like jackknifing protection, so both more fun and safer to drive”

The Tesla Semi is expected to have:

Pros

Experts predict electric trucks like the Tesla Semi could cut the trucking industry’s carbon footprint by 40% in the next decade.

The 300-mile version is expected to start at $150,000, and the 500-mile version at $180,000.

Features like regenerative braking, advanced safety systems, and regular software updates make the Tesla Semi stand out.

The Tesla Semi is a big step toward electric trucking. With production starting soon, it could change how goods are moved across the country.
