Recent drone footage reveals significant advancement in the construction of Tesla’s Semi factory adjacent to Gigafactory Nevada. The footage, captured by Tesla Semi enthusiast @HinrichsZane on the afternoon of October 29, 2024, showcases substantial progress in roof installation and increased construction activity.

The site was bustling with activity, featuring multiple cranes and a steady stream of trucks delivering roof insulation materials. Workers were observed actively installing roof insulation, while other areas of the facility showed completed footings and column installations.

During Tesla’s Q3 2024 earnings call, CEO Elon Musk highlighted the “ridiculous” demand for the Semi, attributing it to the vehicle’s superior total cost of ownership compared to competitors. Musk emphasized several key advantages of the electric Class 8 truck, particularly in terms of safety and driver experience.

“It’d be a massive improvement in driver fatigue because — and driver safety. We’ve got sort of the anti-jack knifing software. You don’t have to worry about your brakes overheating if you go down a steep hill because we generating that energy goes back and into the pack. It’s just like — it’s like radically better than a diesel is what the drivers love it,” Musk explained.

While mass production is yet to begin, the rapid construction progress of the dedicated Semi factory suggests Tesla is positioning itself to meet the strong market demand for its electric semi-truck.
