Tesla is set to make significant changes to its Premium Connectivity service, affecting both new and existing customers’ access to complimentary Spotify Premium accounts.

Key Changes and Dates

  • October 1, 2024: New Tesla vehicles will no longer include a free Spotify Premium account with Premium Connectivity subscriptions.
  • December 1, 2024: This change extends to Tesla vehicles delivered between July 1, 2019, and September 30, 2024.
  • Vehicles delivered on or before June 30, 2019: Retain existing Premium Connectivity benefits, including Spotify Premium, until hardware becomes obsolete (e.g., 4G network closure).

Impact on Users

Affected Tesla owners using the complimentary Spotify account will need to:

  1. Enter payment details to continue Spotify Premium service after December 1, 2024.
  2. Maintain their Tesla Premium Connectivity subscription for mobile network streaming.
  3. Alternatively, log in with their personal Spotify Premium account.

Tesla has advised: “Log in with your personal Spotify account or continue accessing the vehicle account by updating the account information with your personal email. Retaining the vehicle Spotify account requires the 2024.32.4 software update.”

Global Impact

According to available reports from Tesla owners, Australia, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, and Norway are currently affected by this change. However, it’s important to note that more countries may potentially be impacted, as the full extent of the rollout is not yet known.
